History

In 1968 Ian Back of I.L Back Tailoring Services, had a factory called Monatic Alba (House of Monatic today) in Wynberg, Cape Town. Years later, the factory was then moved to Parow. By the 1980’s Monatic Alba and M. Bertish division merged and became House of Monatic.

The factory produced uniforms (schools, navy etc), safari suits and shirts.  M Bertish and Co. had the Embassy brand which was their top end brand. It then became the Monatic brand it is today. Monatic Alba hand produced each garment.

In 1998, Brimstone Investment Corporation takes over House of Monatic from Lenco Holdings.
